The Quiet Man from Holyhead

The Quiet Man From Holyhead

For just on forty years he’s served
The quiet man from Holyhead
For just on forty years he saw the action
His gallantry was unreserved
The lifeboat man just used his head
His pay no more than lives and satisfaction

And no-one knows just what he thinks
The quiet man from Holyhead
Nor if he ever wonders why he did it
A lad of fifteen - learning how
Whose sons have followed where he led
The man who used his head- but I’ve just said it

He’s given up his time to go
The quiet man from Holyhead
Who used his heart his strength and his compassion
To save the sinking row - on row
The ships - the sailors and - with dread
The children facing danger in their fashion

For just on forty years he’s served
The quiet man from Holyhead
For just on forty years he saw the action
His gallantry was unreserved
The lifeboat man just used his head
His pay no more than lives and satisfaction
