White Knights

White Knights

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

White Knights
In the storm
Don't come
To harm

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

White Knights
Volunteer
White Knights
Still fear

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

White Knights
In the sea
White Knights
Set them free

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

White Knights
On the foam
Come Home
Safe home

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

White Knights
On the wave
White Knights
Please save

The Lifeboatman's Wife

The Lifeboatman's Wife

I might have said No
I might have said Please don't go
But that's hardly fair
he needs to be off out there
Fighting the storm
Knowing we're safe and warm
I married a man
A man made for saving lives

And everything's angled
To keep him so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
My spare time is taken
To join him so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
The children encouraged
To follow so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
He'll go to save lives then
He'll come in so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
I need him to live and
I need him so close
So close to the sea

So close to the sea

I might have said No
I might have said Please don't go
But that's hardly fair
he needs to be off out there
Fighting the storm
Knowing we're safe and warm
I married a man
A man made for saving lives

The Indian Chief

The Indian Chief
05 January 1881

On the night of the Indian Chief
Charles Fish and his men
On the night of the Indian Chief
They froze to the skin
But they were determined
Determined to save
On the night of the Indian Chief
Charles Fish and his men

The Indian Chief went aground
On Long Sand near by Kent
The Bradford from Ramsgate
Was towed by the Vulcan to sea
Charles Fish and his men soaked and
Frozen along the long way
ch
The Indian Chief was elusive
At last she was found
By waiting the storm out all night
Then by daylight to see
The Indian Chief was a wreckage
Spread round a long way
ch
Main mast and mizzen mast gone
And her bulwark washed off
With spars and dead bodies afloat
Seventeen in the sea
We picked up eleven alive
And then went on our way
ch
I know in my heart - without fear -
From the hour that we left
To the time that we rescued the living
Eleven at sea
We had only one thought - that to
Save all the men on our way

On the night of the Indian Chief
Charles Fish and his men
On the night of the Indian Chief
They froze to the skin
But they were determined
Determined to save
On the night of the Indian Chief
Charles Fish and his men

Build me a Boat

Build me a Boat

Build me a boat
To row in calm seas
Build me a boat
To sail in storms
Build me a boat
For staying upright
To stay afloat
A boat for saving lives

That's how we began
To keep our brave men safer
That's how we began
To value our brave men
ch
And so it moved on
Designing boats much safer
And so it moved on
To value our brave men
ch
Steam engines then oil
To make our rescues safer
Steam engines then oil
To value our brave men
ch
Inshore boats came in
All-weather boats made safer
Inshore boats came in
To value our brave men
ch
The gear for the crew
Equipment getting safer
The gear for the crew
To value our brave men
ch
We do what we can
But storms become no safer
We do what we can
To value our brave men

Build me a boat
To row in calm seas
Build me a boat
To sail in storms
Build me a boat
For staying upright
To stay afloat
A boat for saving lives
