Saving the Lives - from Rhyl

Saving the lives - from Rhyl

Earlier lifeboatmen died in the sea
Their capsizing boat in 1853
Drowned six of the crew
Six good men and true
Who went out to save the lives - from Rhyl

Down the years between brave men took the risk
By sailing out to sea whenever we’d ask
Their risk in the wave
Endeavour to save
They went out to save the lives - from Rhyl

Hovercraft - or a boat - oil-rig or boy
Volunteers run from their full-time employ
To battle the sea
To help you and me
To go out and save the lives - from Rhyl

From father to son - down the family
There seems to be some kind of destiny
To guard the children
The women and men
To go out and save the lives - from Rhyl

Widow's Song

Widow's Song

You see disaster

I see a man
You see disaster
I'll not see him again

I always knew it
Risks that he took
I always knew it
Depended on his luck

But he still rescued
Men from the sea
But he still rescued
He couldn't let them be

Don't shout disaster
He tried to save
Don't shout disaster
To save them from the wave

Determined crewmen
Trusting - each one

Determined crewmen

See all the things they've done

A lifetime's service
Rescue at sea
A lifetime's service
Saving and setting free

I always knew it
He might be lost
I always knew it
I'd grieve to count the cost

His life was rescue
I knew at first
His life was rescue
And I know it at last

The Lifeboatman's Wife

The Lifeboatman's Wife

I might have said No
I might have said Please don't go
But that's hardly fair
he needs to be off out there
Fighting the storm
Knowing we're safe and warm
I married a man
A man made for saving lives

And everything's angled
To keep him so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
My spare time is taken
To join him so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
The children encouraged
To follow so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
He'll go to save lives then
He'll come in so close
So close to the sea
So close to the sea
ch
I need him to live and
I need him so close
So close to the sea

So close to the sea

I might have said No
I might have said Please don't go
But that's hardly fair
he needs to be off out there
Fighting the storm
Knowing we're safe and warm
I married a man
A man made for saving lives
